General Week-by-Week Schedule (Tentative)

Below is a suggested week-by-week schedule that you should follow to ensure you complete your tasks on time. This is tentative, but should help you allocate your time better. Put this into your Gantt charts!

June 25th - June 28th: DESIGN WEEK

  1. Announcements from Management Team.
    1. Eric: Go over week-by-week scheduling. Ensure students update their Gantt Chart accordingly.
    2. Student Introductions? (If new)
  2. Begin solving team specific Scope of Work deliverables!
    1. As each team dives into their Scope of Work deliverables, it would benefit each team if they had their final report guidelines open to see what needs to be addressed by the end of the summer. Act as if the Final Report Guidelines are a live document, that continues to have information put into it.
  3. Develop more concept sketches, CAD designs, schematics, etc based on what your team is working on!
July 2nd - July 5th: Finalize initial designs, rapid prototype, test rapid prototypes, develop / order BOM.

  1. Continue solving team specific Scope of Work deliverables.
  2. Finalize CAD designs, schematics, etc based on what your team is working on!
  3. Are you getting closer to Rapid Prototyping some or all of your project’s features? What is absolutely necessary for testing when developing a rapid prototype?
    1. Test your rapid prototypes. Do they meet your specifications (tolerances, etc)? Does anything need to be improved?
    2. Assignment: Develop a write up that goes over what the pros / cons are of your rapid prototype. What went well / bad? Did it match your initial specifications? Any unforeseen issues?
      1. How do you intend on fixing any issues? Will another rapid prototype need to be created?
  4. Begin developing a B.O.M for your project’s needs. Do we have anything in the shop you can use?
    1. Are there parts in your BOM that are needed asap? Let’s get some ordered!
    2. What are the lead times for your BOM items? Find local sources ideally to remedy this issue!
    3. Ask Eric / Dr. Furman if we have items from your BOM!
    4. Order earlier in the week if you can! Source locally first if lead time on shipping is too long. Ask for suggestions if you need help.

July 9th - July 12th: Finalize design iterations, Finalize BOM and ORDER, begin assembling final prototype!
  1. Continue solving team specific Scope of Work deliverables.
  2. Based on your rapid prototyping testing results, perform another iteration of your CAD designs, schematics, etc to ensure your final prototype has no design flaws (if needed).
  3. Begin developing your final prototypes depending if you are cleared to do so!
    1. Consider what tools, materials, sourced work you might need for your final prototypes.
  4. Presentation #1
July 16th - July 19th: Create final prototype, test final prototype!
  1. Continue solving team specific Scope of Work deliverables.
  2. Work on your final prototype!
    1. If you are further ahead, then begin testing your final prototype!

July 23rd - July 26th: Finalize testing, finalize final report, finalize feedback survey.
  1. Finalize team specific Scope of Work deliverables.
  2. Finalize testing on your prototypes!
  3. Begin and finish your final reports.
  4. Deliver final presentations!
